The research and outreach program of the university is conducted by the research and extension unit. The main responsibilities of this unit is management of research, innovation, research publications, research planning, implementation, research related activities and research related communication with public and private sectors in nation and international level. 

The research and extension unit actively encourage the local, national and international research collaboration to mobilize the knowledge through matching peoples, partnerships/industrial partnerships, innovation the emerging technology, undergraduate or postgraduate students, internships, etc.

The research and extension unit create learning environment through discovery and innovation and facilitate opportunities for UG and PG students to engage with research activities for all technical field of study.  The unit has also role to raise awareness and interest of the students, disseminating and celebrating the research results and achievements.
